Managing the Trade and Portfolio -- Fauzia Timberlake -- Private Trader

Fauzia Timberlake will continue her discussion of her journey as a retail options trader. From selling covered calls to Big Lizards with Spikes to using synthetic equivalents, Fauzia will discuss how she manages her overall investing and trading portfolio.

In addition, Fauzia employs synthetic option equivalents to set up her trades. Synthetics are particularly useful for retirement accounts where margin is unavailable and for smaller accounts where availability of capital is a consideration.

About Our Speaker:

Fauzia Timberlake has a degree in Electrical Engineering. She started out as a software design engineer, developing applications for the electric utility industry. As a young mother, Fauzia opted to stay home and raise her two daughters. During this time, she took over management of the family finances and that led to an interest in the workings of the capital markets. Many years later, she decided to switch careers to the financial services industry. She worked as a financial advisor for a large brokerage firm for almost 10 years.

While attending classes at UCB Extension for a Personal Financial Planning certificate, Fauzia discovered options trading as a way to hedge portfolios against big market swings and as an income generation strategy. She enjoyed some success doing this but it was not until 4 years ago that she started following the research and methodologies presented on a web-based financial network called Tastytrade. The Tastytrade way of trading options is based essentially on using volatility, liquidity and probabilities to set up a variety of option strategies in an investment portfolio.

Fauzia is a firm believer in the research and methodologies presented by the Tastytrade network and, for the most part, is a seller of option premium. In December 2015, she was celebrated as a Rising Star by the network and, in early 2016, she was selected as a Follow Trader on tastyworks.com. As a Follow Trader, Fauzia's trades are openly displayed on tastyworks.com for any viewer to see and/or follow. Fauzia's most recent venture is into the world of options Coaching and Consulting. Fauzia provides one-on-one personalized coaching and her students range from complete newbies to experienced traders.

Other than trading options, Fauzia enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking and reading.
